Sally devises and delivers education/community programmes for a diverse range of festivals, museums, galleries, schools and partner organizations across the country and her work as a children’s author/designer has involved creating books for publishers such as Macmillan, Random House US, Scholastic and Barefoot. Her latest title – The Word Bird – is coming soon. The best selling Magic Train Ride sing-a-long CD animation picture book has been used for early years to inspire learning right across the whole curriculum and Sally is one of the few authors who is able to inspire the very young in creative literacy. She works regularly with Authors Abroad on author visits to schools as far afield as China, Mexico, the Middle East, Borneo and Europe and also delivers creative literacy days for their Able Writers scheme. She has been at the helm of the Cornish Sea Salts and Sail Festival children’s events for the last 10 years and was one of the founders of Tip of your Tongue – the UK’s first ever performance poetry festival. She is passionate about taking poetry to the heart of the community and giving people the chance to find their voice and for it to be heard in an original way that will delight and inspire others.
